LoDDCA protests removal of Class CD licence endorsements

The Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LoDDCA) has raised concerns regarding the reported removal of the Class CD endorsement from renewed driving licences issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

The Class CD endorsement is a professional qualification for operating heavy commercial vehicles, specifically those transporting hazardous or specialized cargo such as petroleum, chemicals, and flammable goods. To obtain this qualification, drivers must typically be at least 30 years old, have held a Class CE licence for at least two years, and pass specialized training and retests.

LoDDCA warns that the absence of this endorsement on renewed licences could lead to enforcement disputes, arrests, and detention for drivers during roadside or international border checks. The association is seeking urgent engagement with the NTSA and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) to clarify the legal and operational implications of this change. Drivers are advised to verify their renewed documents and ensure their EPRA petroleum tanker certificates remain valid.
