Lodestar Minerals secures copper-molybdenum project in Chile
Lodestar Minerals has entered into an option agreement to acquire the Pacifico Copper-Molybdenum-Gold Porphyry Project located in the Atacama region of Chile. Through its subsidiary, Tesoro Andes SpA, the company has secured access to five exploration tenements and applied for three contiguous licenses, creating a consolidated 22km² project area.
The project covers a six-kilometer prospective porphyry corridor that was previously explored as separate northern and southern areas. Historical drilling data from companies including First Quantum Minerals and Hudbay Minerals shows porphyritic intrusions with copper and molybdenum mineralization at depths exceeding 700 meters. Notably, the central portion of the corridor remains largely underexplored and has not been previously drilled.
The Pacifico project is situated 42km north of the Relincho deposit, a major site operated by a Teck Resources and Newmont joint venture. The site features established infrastructure, including over 42km of existing tracks and close proximity to the Pan-American Highway, facilitating year-round access.
