Lodi McDonald’s shooting leaves employee injured and suspect dead

A shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant in Lodi, California, resulted in one employee being injured and a suspect being killed by police on Monday morning.

Authorities identified the suspect as 29-year-old Jonhatan Anguiano, an employee at the restaurant. According to the Lodi Police Department, Anguiano entered the establishment around 9:30 a.m. armed with a semi-automatic pistol and fired multiple shots, striking a female colleague. When responding officers arrived, they encountered Anguiano, who reportedly opened fire on an officer, prompting police to return fire. Anguiano was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured employee was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Witnesses in the drive-thru described a scene of panic as police surrounded the building and customers were temporarily trapped by the heavy police presence.

The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office is leading a multi-agency investigation into the incident. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
