Lodz University of Technology students set fuel efficiency records

Students from the Iron Warriors team at the Lodz University of Technology have set two new Polish records for fuel and energy efficiency. Their specialized vehicles, designed to maximize distance per unit of energy, achieved 837 km per liter of gasoline in the Eco Arrow 3 model and an equivalent of 2,267 km per liter of fuel in the electric Eco Arrow 2 Electric model.

The single-person vehicles are constructed from carbon fiber, keeping their weight under 50 kg. They feature a teardrop shape to minimize air resistance and allow the driver to operate in a reclined position. The gasoline model utilizes a modified trimmer engine, while the electric version uses a motor similar to those found in electric bicycles.

The team, which has been active for nearly 15 years, consists of over 30 students working across mechanical, electronic, and programming departments. European Rally Champion Mikołaj Marczyk recently met with the team to recognize their achievements.
