Log Cabin Republicans removes transgender rights from mission

The Log Cabin Republicans, a prominent conservative gay rights organization, has announced it will transition to an ‘LGB’ advocacy group, officially removing transgender rights from its mission statement. The board of directors voted to refocus the organization on issues such as marriage, adoption, military service, and religious liberty, specifically targeting lesbian, gay, and bisexual Americans.

President Ross Hemminger stated the decision was driven by a desire for ‘moral clarity’ and a shift in the transgender movement’s focus. In an op-ed, Hemminger argued that the movement has moved away from adult issues to focus on minors, citing concerns regarding gender ideology in schools, participation in women’s sports, and medical treatments for youth.

The move has drawn criticism from advocacy groups like the Human Rights Campaign and LGBTQ Nation, with the latter describing Hemminger’s comments as ‘untrue and inflammatory.’ The organizational shift aligns with the political rhetoric of Donald Trump regarding gender identity politics.
