Logan businesses targeted in third firebombing this year

A series of firebombings targeting businesses in Logan, Australia, has caused significant damage and community distress. The latest incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, at Rochedale South, where a Renault Megane hatchback was rammed into a clothes and accessories shop on Belmore Drive and subsequently set on fire.

The blaze caused extensive damage to neighboring businesses, ruining stock and cutting electricity to the area. Local business owners, including Andy Dao of P&J Snacks and mortgage broker Dan Brown, expressed shock and fear regarding the impact on their livelihoods and personal safety.

This marks the third such incident in Logan this year. Previous attacks included a fire at a business on Logan Road in Underwood in July, which killed aquarium fish at a neighboring shop, and a ramming and firebombing of a tobacconist in Marsden in March. Member for Springwood Mick de Brenni has called for increased police resources and more safety cameras to prevent further attacks.
