Logan Lake, BC wildfire crews contain Guichon Creek fire

The BC Wildfire Service reported that the Guichon Creek wildfire, located a few kilometres west of Logan Lake, showed no new growth on Saturday as crews continued mopping‑up operations and used a helicopter for water drops. Winds of 60‑80 km/h were forecast due to a cold front.

Logan Lake residents, a community of about 2,000 people, expressed confidence in the fire department’s response, recalling previous fires such as the 2021 Tremont Creek blaze. Many families packed go‑bags and prepared to evacuate after Mayor Robin Smith urged readiness. Residents praised the quick response of firefighters and the ongoing efforts to protect the town.

The fire remains a ground‑level blaze with white smoke and no open flames, and authorities continue to monitor conditions while assisting the local fire department.
