Logan Morris played through back fracture to lead Brisbane Lions to premiership
Brisbane Lions player Logan Morris revealed he played through a back stress fracture during the AFL finals series, including the grand final victory. The 21-year-old became the first player to win a premiership in each of his first three seasons.
Morris had a quiet start to the grand final but secured the win by kicking two goals in the final minutes. His decisive mark and goal with 64 seconds remaining put the Lions ahead, followed by another goal to seal the comeback. Morris noted that managing his training load and playing through the injury was a significant challenge.
The match was also marked by a game-ending Achilles injury to Alex Pearce. Morris credited halftime advice from development coach Liam Jones for helping him improve his marking in the final quarter.
