Kamloops native Logan Stankoven, a forward for the Carolina Hurricanes, won the NHL Stanley Cup on June 14, 2026. The City of Kamloops announced a free public celebration on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rotary Bandshell in Riverside Park.

The event will include speeches, a highlight video, a live interview with Stankoven conducted by sportscaster Jon Keen, and a group photo with the Stanley Cup. One hundred attendees will be selected on‑site for an immediate photo opportunity with Stankoven and the trophy; tickets for the draw will be handed out at the celebration.

Stankoven scored 11 goals during the Hurricanes’ playoff run and finished third in Conn Smythe Trophy voting. He is the first Kamloops‑produced player to bring the Cup home since Mark Recchi in 2011. Wes Stankoven, his father, expressed excitement about sharing the trophy with the community, and Deputy Mayor Bill Sarai praised the hometown hero’s achievement.
