Loganair to end all operations at Dundee Airport in October

Loganair has announced it will end all operations at Dundee Airport on 23 October, ending a 63-year relationship with the site. As the airport’s only commercial carrier, the airline’s departure leaves the facility’s future uncertain, potentially limiting it to private flights unless a new operator is secured.

The withdrawal includes the cessation of services to London Heathrow, which operated under a Public Service Obligation (PSO) supported by the Scottish and UK governments, as well as routes to the Northern Isles, including Shetland and Orkney. Loganair cited financial unsustainability, rising maintenance costs, and global aircraft part shortages as primary drivers for the decision.

The move affects more than 30 airport roles, including air traffic controllers, security personnel, and baggage handlers. Loganair stated it is working with Dundee-based staff to identify alternative roles within its network. Affected passengers will be offered refunds or alternative airport options.
