Logic, Mathematics and Philosophy Symposium begins in Selçuk Efes
The 11th National Symposium on Logic, Mathematics, and Philosophy has commenced at the Selçuk Efes City Memory in Turkey. Organized by the Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Arts and Sciences in collaboration with the Turkish Mathematical Society and hosted by the Efes Selçuk Municipality, the three-day event explores the theme “ARÂF: Between Uncertain Certainties and Certain Uncertainties.”
The symposium, which has an academic tradition dating back to 2003 under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Erdal İnönü, brings together academics to discuss topics ranging from mathematical certainty to the inquisitive nature of philosophy. Opening remarks by Organizing Committee Chair Prof. Dr. Ömür Ceylan highlighted the significance of hosting the event in an ancient geographic region known for its long history of settlement.
During the second day, discussions focused on the concept of uncertainty. Prof. Dr. Kaan H. Ökten presented on the uncertainty of the final end in relation to time and mortality, while researcher Arda Telli explored how uncertainty can serve as a foundation for new political possibilities through the lens of Hannah Arendt. Other sessions included inquiries into the history of Turkish-Islamic thought and the search for truth.
