Logistics sector in Spain addresses labor shortages and talent retention
The logistics sector in Spain is addressing critical labor shortages through both specialized training initiatives and strategic talent management studies. In Vigo, Esticargo (part of Grupo Davila) and Formavigo are launching a 278-hour training program starting October 5. The curriculum focuses on warehouse operations, goods handling, and machinery management, including 100 hours of practical internships to prepare workers for the region's industrial and transport demands.
Simultaneously, a report by the Centro Español de Logística (CEL) and ManpowerGroup highlights structural challenges in the industry, such as professional scarcity, high turnover, and absenteeism. The study suggests that companies must improve employee experience, ergonomics, and professional development to retain talent. It also notes that while automation and artificial intelligence can reduce repetitive tasks and improve planning, their implementation must be supported by continuous training and job adaptation.
