Logistics technology shifts toward AI and autonomous transport

Logistics is undergoing a technological transformation driven by artificial intelligence and autonomous transport. In the supply chain sector, AI is being utilized to improve demand forecasting by integrating variables such as sales history, seasonality, weather, and macroeconomic indicators. This granular approach helps companies simultaneously reduce stockouts and immobilized capital.

Furthermore, AI applications in routing, warehouse automation, and predictive maintenance are increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs. As logistics moves from a support function to a central element of national competitiveness, autonomous transport is emerging as a necessary solution to manage growing trade volumes.

Within the BRICS nations, where intra-group trade is growing between 18% and 20% annually, the pressure on ports and transport routes is increasing. To accommodate this growth, drainage capacity must increase by at least 50% in the coming years. Infrastructure investments in these regions are expected to exceed US$ 3 trillion by the end of the decade.
