Logistics UK reports rising business confidence despite driver shortages
Logistics companies in the United Kingdom are showing signs of recovering confidence following a turbulent start to the year. According to the Logistics Performance Tracker released by Logistics UK, business outlook scores improved from 5.8 in the first quarter to 6.5 out of 10 in the second quarter of 2026.
Despite challenges such as rising fuel prices and increased operating costs driven by Middle East conflicts, companies reported a slight improvement in financial health, with scores rising from 7.2 to 7.5. However, labor remains a critical concern, as 44% of transport companies report a need for more truck drivers.
Ben Fletcher, CEO of Logistics UK, emphasized that the sector is essential to the UK economy, supporting everything from schools and hospitals to supermarkets and factories. He noted that despite supply chain disruptions, operators have maintained service reliability for their customers.
