Logitech CEO warns of prolonged chip shortages due to AI demand
Logitech CEO Hanneke Faber warns that the high demand for artificial intelligence is driving a sustained semiconductor shortage. Faber expects chip supply constraints to continue for at least the next 12 to 18 months, noting that a significant portion of global memory chip capacity is being diverted to build out AI infrastructure.
Faber stated that nearly every Logitech product requires semiconductors. Despite these supply challenges, the company continues to release approximately 40 new products annually, including higher-priced models. The company views itself as the ‘eyes, ears, and hands of AI,’ as more users interact with AI systems via microphones, headsets, and other peripherals.
Additionally, Logitech has adjusted its logistics due to conflicts in the Middle East. Because of disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, the company has shifted supply routes for parts of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa away from its Dubai distribution center toward the Netherlands and China.
