Logitech Says No New Gaming Handheld After G Cloud

Logitech’s global head of gaming, Robin Piispanen, told The Verge the company will not develop a successor to the 2022 G Cloud streaming handheld. He said the market requires “really big scale” and that most handheld makers also own the content, citing Nintendo and Steam as examples. Piispanen added that Logitech is focusing on larger priorities rather than a second G Cloud.

The original G Cloud received mixed reviews and modest sales; reviewers called it “overpriced for what it delivers.” Piispanen noted that while a dedicated core audience existed, most buyers tried the device and then set it aside. He also referenced rising component costs that have driven prices of competing handhelds such as Ayaneo’s Next 2 (over $5,000) and recent Steam Deck price hikes of up to $300.
