Logitech beats profit forecasts and launches developer-themed mouse
Logitech reported non-GAAP operating results of $231 million for the quarter ending in September, exceeding analyst expectations of $204 million. Growth was driven by an 8% increase in gaming products and a 12% rise in video conferencing equipment sales, as businesses continue to upgrade office setups. Despite a 20% decline in global PC sales, Logitech's peripherals saw growth due to the large existing installed base of computers.
The company also unveiled the MX Master 4 Developer Edition, a limited-edition version of its flagship mouse. While the hardware remains identical to the standard MX Master 4—featuring the MagSpeed scroll wheel and haptic feedback—the casing features laser-engraved syntax symbols, circuit patterns, and “Easter eggs” such as references to the Linux kernel release date and Programmer's Day. The special edition is available through Logitech and select retailers.
Looking ahead to the December quarter, Logitech projects sales between $1.36 billion and $1.43 billion. The company noted that while component and transport costs are expected to rise, it has managed to mitigate the impact of a semiconductor supplier's factory closure, reducing the estimated sales loss from an initial $200 million to between $70 million and $80 million.
