Lohfelden hosts Simson moped rally for 1,500 fans

Approximately 1,500 fans gathered in Lohfelden for a four-day Simson moped rally. The event, now in its sixth year, celebrates the cult status of the East German two-stroke mopeds.

The gathering has recently gained political attention due to its association with political campaigning in Saxony-Anhalt. Some political figures have utilized the moped culture as a way to connect with voters through 'Ostalgie' (East German nostalgia). This has drawn criticism from the descendants of the Simson family, who founded the company in 1856.
