Lohgerber Museum showcases glass pieces with African tannin bark

The Lohgerber Museum & Galerie Dippoldiswalde in Germany displays two glass objects that incorporate African tannin materials. One piece contains mangrove bark sourced from East Africa, with a tannin content of 28.5 %, historically valued for its strong red‑dyeing properties in leather production. The second piece holds leaf sumac (Blättersumach) from Africa, featuring a tannin content of 23.2 % and used for light‑stable, brightening leather tanning.

Both objects are documented with dimensions (approximately 20 cm high and 10 cm diameter), are licensed for non‑commercial use under a Creative Commons BY‑NC‑SA licence, and include provenance information from the museum.
