Loke Siew Fook urges PH meeting following Zahid's remarks

DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to convene a Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council meeting to address concerns regarding political stability in Malaysia.

The call follows recent remarks made by UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during the UMNO General Assembly. Zahid suggested that UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) retain the freedom to chart their own political course and challenged critics to table a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister if they disagreed with the current arrangement.

Loke expressed concern that such statements create an impression that the component parties within the unity government are not moving in the same direction. He noted that this lack of perceived certainty could negatively impact public and investor confidence. Loke indicated he would propose the meeting to the Prime Minister once he returns from traveling abroad.
