Lola Young defends management and addresses online scrutiny

British pop singer Lola Young has addressed the online backlash directed at her management team following her onstage collapse at the All Things Go Festival in New York in September 2025. Young, who has been open about her struggles with substance abuse, schizoaffective disorder, and ADHD, defended her manager, Nick Shymansky, stating, “I’m in control; my team work for me and that’s the truth.”

Following the incident, Young entered a two-month treatment facility and joined Alcoholics Anonymous to manage her addiction. She described the decision to cancel tour dates as a necessary step for her survival.

In addition to discussing her recovery, Young criticized the intense scrutiny and hate directed toward women online. She described the influence of the “manosphere” and online misogyny as “appalling” and “disgusting,” noting that social media algorithms contribute to a divide that fuels such behavior.
