Lolland parents protest proposed school closures

Parents in Lolland Municipality have organized a demonstration in Maribo to protest the proposed closure of Søllested Skole and Østofte Skole. The protests occurred as the municipal council met to discuss the budget catalog for 2027 through 2030.

Despite receiving special state subsidies, Lolland Municipality faces a projected saving requirement of 64 million kroner for the coming year. Protesters, including Katrine Holmgren Petersen and Angelique Rasmussen, emphasized that the decision impacts the lives and futures of local children, urging politicians to consider the human consequences rather than just the financial figures.
