Lomé electricity challenges drive grid investments and solar adoption
The Compagnie Énergie Électrique du Togo (CEET) is addressing electricity supply challenges and public lighting issues in the Grand Lomé region. During a meeting of the Grand Lomé Autonomous District consultation framework on October 15, 2026, CEET Planning Director Ahmed Boukari detailed the company’s efforts to rationalize services and invest in the national electrical grid. These initiatives aim to support the presidential goal of universal electricity access in Togo by 2030.
In response to recurring power outages in Lomé, local businesses and households are increasingly turning to alternative energy sources. The company EGENT TOGO is promoting solar energy solutions, such as solar panels and backup power systems like the ‘Armoire Billy’, to provide autonomy and mitigate the impact of grid interruptions for both domestic and professional use.
