Loman hosts “Coborâtul Oilor” pastoral tradition festival

The “Coborâtul Oilor” (Descent of the Sheep) festival is being held in Loman, Săsciori commune, marking the end of the pastoral season in the Șureanu Mountains. The event celebrates the traditional movement of flocks from mountain pastures back to farms for the winter.

The festival includes a traditional Romanian product fair, religious ceremonies, and folklore performances. It serves as a cultural gathering for shepherds, breeders, and local communities to preserve pastoral identity and promote local products.

Organizers, including the Săsciori Sheep Breeders Association, emphasize that the event is part of a broader effort to combine ancestral traditions with modern economic development for the sheep-breeding sector. Dr. Dan Nicolae, president of the association, has been noted for his role in strengthening the professional community through such initiatives.
