Lomas Bayas doubles tire recycling target under Ley REP

Compañía Minera Lomas Bayas has received recognition from Michelin for the second consecutive year regarding its management of end-of-use tires (NFU). Under the framework of the Extended Producer Responsibility Law (Ley REP), the operation exceeded its established goal of 143 tons, valorizing a total of 289.36 tons, which represents 202% of the target.

The management process ensures traceability from the mine site to the recycling plant. The logistics model integrates planning, operations, and maintenance, utilizing the same trucks that deliver new tires to transport used units to the Michelin recycling plant in Antofagasta.

Looking ahead, the company has expanded this coordination model to facilitate the removal of approximately 350 additional end-of-use tires for recycling in the coming months, supporting circular economy initiatives.
