Lomas de Lourdes residents contest large structure at golf course

Residents of the Lomas de Lourdes neighborhood are questioning the installation of a large-scale structure at the site known as the golf course, located at the corner of Paseo del Cortijo and Cumbres. Local inhabitants reported unusual activity and modifications to the perimeter fencing, leading to concerns that the site may be used for high-capacity events.

Community representative Nidia Ibarra stated that residents have not received official information regarding the purpose of the structure or whether it possesses the necessary municipal authorizations. Neighbors expressed concerns regarding potential noise and visual pollution, mobility issues, parking shortages, and general security. Additionally, some residents claim to hold deeds indicating the area is designated as green space, which could represent approximately 10 percent of the neighborhood’s total green area. The community has requested that the City Council provide transparency regarding land use, permits, and planning instruments to preserve the local ecosystem and groundwater recharge capabilities.
