Lomas de Zamora court orders 13 million peso payout for bus passenger

A court in Lomas de Zamora has ordered a bus driver and an insurance company to pay more than 13 million pesos to a passenger following a 14-year legal battle. The incident occurred in 2012 in Monte Grande when the victim fell while attempting to disembark from a line 165 bus.

Judge Carlos Mario Casás ruled that the driver stopped the vehicle at an excessive distance from the curb in a flooded area, causing the passenger to fall into a ditch and suffer severe injuries. The court affirmed the transport company's responsibility to ensure passengers can safely board and exit vehicles.

The total compensation includes 8.8 million pesos for physical and psychological incapacity, 4.6 million pesos for moral damages, and 460,000 pesos for medical and transport expenses. The insurance provider is held jointly liable for the settlement.
