Lombardy advances hospital redevelopment plans for Garbagnate and Cremona
Regional councilor Carlo Borghetti of the Democratic Party presented an agenda to convert the former Santa Corona hospital in Garbagnate Milanese into a "Cittadella della solidarietà". The proposal calls for regional funding, a feasibility study with the City of Milan, and an institutional working group to create an integrated hub for seniors, minors, and people with disabilities, linked to the new hospital.
Separately, the Movement for the Redevelopment of Cremona Hospital launched a civic appeal on 1 July 2026, inviting citizens in the 65 municipalities of ASST Cremona to ask their mayors to request a public, independent comparison between constructing a new hospital and renovating the existing Ospedale Maggiore. The initiative provides a three‑minute online form, cites concerns over recent project changes, and seeks transparent decision‑making before final approvals.
