Italy regional governments allocate funds for disability support

Italian regional governments have announced significant funding to support individuals with severe disabilities.

In Lombardy, the regional government has allocated 75,000 euros to ATS Brianza for a pilot project in the Lecco province. This initiative aims to support residential solutions for people with severe or very severe disabilities facing economic fragility, specifically targeting those who do not receive other forms of economic aid.

In Sicily, the regional government has allocated 40 million euros to provide economic benefits for September and October to individuals with very severe disabilities. This funding, drawn from the Fund for Disability and Non-Self-Sufficiency, also includes additional budget to settle arrears for new eligible recipients.

Additionally, in Sicily, a sub-amendment has been presented to the Regional Assembly to integrate 12.5 million euros annually between 2026 and 2028. These funds are intended to support municipalities in providing hygiene and communication assistance (Asacom) for students with disabilities in primary and secondary schools.
