Lombardy boosts youth employment with NEET program and civil service training
The Region of Lombardy launched the Re‑Connect initiative in Milan, a free 30‑month program aimed at 200 NEET youths aged 16‑29 across three activity centres in Milan, Bergamo and Val Camonica. The scheme offers individual guidance, AI‑focused training, indoor and outdoor labs, mentoring, up to €1,000 participation allowance and extracurricular internships, with the goal of integrating young people into the labour market.
In the Province of Lecco, the civil‑service tutoring pathway for 23 young volunteers concluded on 17 June. Participants received 32 hours of training on soft‑skill development, job‑search techniques, CV writing and interview preparation, and engaged with a HR representative from The Healthea Group. The programme also introduced a regional certification of transversal competencies, the first such scheme in Lombardy, allowing volunteers to have their skills formally recognised for future employment.
Both initiatives reflect a coordinated effort by regional authorities, employment centres and partner organisations to improve youth employability in Lombardy.
