Lombardy exports exceed 40.9 billion euros amid rising industrial costs

Lombardy remains a primary productive engine for Italy, accounting for 25.2% of the nation's total exports. According to an analysis by UIL Lombardia, regional exports exceeded 40.9 billion euros, driven largely by the manufacturing sector, which represents 97% of regional exports.

Despite this industrial strength, the economic landscape shows growing disparities. While the region is not in a recession, there is an increasing reliance on extraordinary redundancy funds (Cassa Integrazione Straordinaria) and rising cost pressures. UIL Lombardia Secretary General Antonio Albrizio noted that while the system is capable of growth and innovation, the current phase requires targeted and preventive industrial policies to address territorial differences and worsening business expectations.
