Lombardy launches pilot program for integrated fibromyalgia care

The Lombardy regional health authority has approved a pilot project to provide integrated, multidisciplinary care for fibromyalgia patients, as outlined in the new System Rules (Regole di Sistema) DGR n. XII/6692 dated 3 August 2026. The initiative builds on the model developed at the Ospedale di Sondalo and will combine clinical evaluation, rehabilitative treatment, psychological support, clinical monitoring and follow‑up, including digital tools and tele‑monitoring, with particular attention to patients with complex clinical and functional needs.

Regional Councilor Emanuele Monti, President of the Welfare Commission, said the goal is to create a homogeneous, appropriate and accessible care model that can be replicated across the region, moving beyond a single pilot to a lasting, integrated approach for the thousands of people affected by fibromyalgia in Lombardy.
