Lombardy Municipalities Extend Joint Evening Patrols

Six municipalities in the Milan area—Boffalora sopra Ticino, Marcallo con Casone, Mesero, Ossona, Robecco sul Naviglio and Santo Stefano Ticino—have renewed a joint evening patrol programme for 2026. The initiative, coordinated by the local police forces, aims to increase visibility in public spaces, parks and squares during evening hours and is part of the regional Urban Security Pact.

At the same time, ten provincial capitals in Lombardy have submitted a unified letter to Regional Security Assessor Romano La Russa, requesting a meeting on 28 July. The municipalities demand updates to regional regulations on police self‑defence tools, direct free access to the SDI data bank, regular mandatory training, stable co‑funding for equipment and staff, and recognition of police officers’ employment rights. They note that the consultative table with the regional government has not met since September of the previous year.
