Italy regional policy updates: agriculture, lighting, and heritage

Various regional administrative and legislative developments are underway across Italy. In Lombardy, the Regional Council is reviewing several initiatives, including a study with Politecnico di Milano on improving agricultural water efficiency to combat climate change risks. Additionally, new legislative projects aim to support local olive oil cultivation through incentives for new plantings and the protection of ancient groves, as well as a proposal to establish institutional identities for ‘plain communities’ (comunità di pianura).

Agricultural support in Lombardy also includes the distribution of over 3.3 million euros for rural consultancy services. Efforts to preserve regional identity are being addressed through a bill to protect and promote typical Lombard cuisine, which includes creating a specific regional brand and supporting local producers.

In Basilicata, the regional government has approved an investment of over 18.8 million euros to modernize public lighting systems, aiming to increase energy efficiency and safety. Meanwhile, in Trani, the municipal government has finalized the accounts for the installation of new floodlight towers at the local stadium, with surplus funds earmarked for further facility improvements.
