Lombardy provides free cinema and theatre experiences to over 70,000 students

The Lombardy regional government’s Assessorate for Culture, led by Francesca Caruso, runs the "Schermi di Classe" and "Palchi di Classe" programmes, offering free cinema screenings and live‑theatre performances to more than 70,000 school‑age children each year, from kindergarten through high school.

The initiatives are part of the broader "Futura. Lo spettacolo in Lombardia" plan, developed together with the Fondazione Cariplo and coordinated by Agis Lombarda. In the latest school year, "Schermi di Classe" reached 42,503 students across 207 schools with 293 film projections in 90 cinemas and 12 master‑classes, while "Palchi di Classe" attracted 28,637 pupils from 279 schools with 271 matinees staged by 32 companies. The programmes aim to strengthen cultural participation, support regional production, and foster critical appreciation of audiovisual and performing arts across all 12 provinces of Lombardy.
