Lombardy receives first six applications for Innovation and Development Zones
Regione Lombardia has received its first six applications for the implementation of Innovation and Development Zones (ZIS), a new industrial policy tool designed to strengthen regional competitiveness.
The applications cover diverse sectors across various territories. The meccatronica sector involves Bergamo, while rehabilitation and longevity focus on Lecco. The agroindustry and agritech sector spans Cremona, Brescia, Lodi, and Mantova. Artificial intelligence applications are centered in Milan.
Two recent applications have also been submitted: one for the textile and clothing sector involving Como and Varese, and another for the pharmaceutical, biomedical, and healthcare sectors in Milan. The initiative aims to foster innovation ecosystems by integrating businesses, universities, public entities, and training centers to enhance local specializations and competitiveness on a national and international scale.
