Lombardy Region proposes regional transport museum in Milan
Lombardy Region is developing a project for the first regional transport museum to preserve and showcase the history of public mobility in the area. The initiative was presented during a conference involving regional officials, the Municipality of Milan, and several transport entities including Ferrovienord, Trenord, and Fondazione FS.
Franco Lucente, the regional assessor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, proposed the decommissioned Porta Genova station in Milan as a strategic location for the museum. The project aims to go beyond a traditional exhibition space, intending to function as a center for research, participation, and the restoration of historical transport materials and documents.
