Lombardy Safety Assessor Romano La Russa Issues Summer Home‑Security Guidance

Romano La Russa, the assessor for Security and Civil Protection of the Lombardy region, answered a citizen’s request for advice on staying safe while travelling for the summer holidays. He warned that burglaries tend to rise when cities are empty and many families leave their homes unattended.

In collaboration with ANACI Milano, the association of condominium administrators, La Russa provided a practical guide that recommends simple protective measures: always lock doors, windows and balcony doors; install grilles, anti‑break glass, alarms or video‑surveillance and keep them activated; ensure building gates and portcullises close properly; avoid opening the door to unknown persons; and watch for obvious signs such as a full mailbox that can signal an empty house to thieves.
