Lombardy wood and furniture exports fall 3.9% in first half of 2026
Lombardy remains Italy’s leading region for wood and furniture exports, despite a 3.9% decline in export value during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. According to data from the FederlegnoArredo Study Center, the region generated 2.2 billion euros in exports, accounting for 29% of the national total.
France remains the primary destination market, though exports there fell by 9.1% (a 27 million euro loss). Other major markets also saw declines, including the United States (-7.3%) and Germany (-10.4%). Conversely, exports to the United Kingdom (+5.2%), Switzerland (+2.5%), and Spain (+4.2%) showed growth.
In the furniture sector specifically, Lombardy holds the top national position with nearly 1.5 billion euros in exports. While the sector faced a 3.9% overall dip—largely due to reduced sales in the U.S.—growth was noted in markets such as the UK and Spain. At the provincial level, Monza and Brianza reported a 3% increase in exports, totaling 613 million euros, despite falling demand from Germany and China.
