Lombongo land fires spark emergency response in Bone Bolango

Authorities in Bone Bolango, Gorontalo, are battling recurring land fires in the Lombongo mountain area. Over 90 personnel from various agencies, including the Gorontalo Regional Police, TNI, BPBD, and local fire departments, have been deployed to manage the blaze. The firefighting efforts faced significant challenges due to steep terrain, narrow access roads, and strong winds, which caused the fire to split into multiple points across teak forests and bamboo groves.

The fires have persisted for several days, affecting four hamlets in Lombongo. While emergency teams have successfully prevented the flames from reaching residential areas, officials suspect the fires may have been intentionally set. Abdul Wahab Hadju, head of the Bone Bolango Fire and Rescue Service, indicated that the fires appear to stem from irresponsible land clearing activities in the upper regions.
