Lommel Grand Prix extended through 2031 in MXGP calendar

The Lommel Grand Prix has been extended for an additional five years, ensuring the iconic sand track remains on the Motocross World Championship (MXGP) calendar through the 2031 season. The agreement was reached between promoter Infront Moto Racing and the organizers of MXGP Flanders.

David Luongo, CEO of Infront, compared the event’s prestige to the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, describing it as a central hub for the motocross industry. The venue is renowned for its challenging, deep sand terrain and recently set a spectator record with 30,000 attendees over a single weekend.

The long-term contract provides organizers Johan Boonen, Ann Plas, and Jo De Munck with the stability needed to invest in infrastructure and event quality. Looking ahead, the 2028 edition is noted as a significant milestone, as it will serve as a tribute to five-time world champion Eric Geboers.
