Lomography announces Joseph Petzval Métamorphose 35mm f/1.8 lens
Lomography has announced the Joseph Petzval Métamorphose 35mm f/1.8, an art lens featuring focus-coupled bokeh control. The lens is designed to expand upon the signature swirl bokeh characteristic of the Petzval series by offering seven distinct levels of bokeh intensity.
At its highest setting, the lens produces an optical warp effect that stretches from a sharp center to create a sense of movement or intensity. At its lowest setting, the lens provides a softer look with soap-bubble bokeh textures. The optical design is inspired by the 1817 single Gaussian lens by Carl Friedrich Gauss, intentionally reinterpreting chromatic aberration and astigmatism for creative effect.
The lens is compatible with Sony E, Canon RF, and Nikon Z mounts. It features a six-element, five-group construction, a 180-degree focus throw, and a stepless iris. It has a minimum focusing distance of 0.35 meters.
