Londerzeel and Weert implement changes to local parking systems

Municipalities in Belgium and the Netherlands are implementing changes to local parking systems. In Londerzeel, Belgium, a pilot project for short-term parking will begin on September 1. Following consultations with local merchants, parking in the Kerkstraat and Dorpsstraat will be limited to a maximum of 30 minutes using a blue disc to increase vehicle turnover. The project also includes the addition of loading zones and expanded bicycle parking facilities to support local commerce.

In Weert, Netherlands, street parking card readers will be phased out by October 1, 2026. This change is driven by the national decommissioning of the 2G network, which is required for the readers to process transactions. While physical card readers will disappear, motorists can continue to use the Stadsparkeren app to manage parking sessions.
