London art scene prepares for Frieze Week 2026 and major exhibitions
London's art scene will see significant activity during Frieze Week in October 2026. Frieze London and Frieze Masters are scheduled to return to Regent's Park from October 14 to 18, featuring nearly 300 galleries. Additionally, the Frieze Sculpture exhibition will be available in the English Gardens from September 16 through November 1, showcasing eleven international artists.
Other notable events include the 14th London edition of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House from October 15 to 18. This year's fair includes a spotlight on Modernist artists from Africa and its diaspora through the exhibition ‘West Wind’.
Major gallery exhibitions running alongside the fairs include a René Magritte retrospective at Gagosian Mayfair, titled ‘This Is Still Not a Pipe: The Afterlife of Magritte’, which runs from September 24 to December 12, 2026. Other featured shows include Georg Baselitz’s ‘The Heroes 1965–66’ at Thaddaeus Ropac.
