London hosts pro-Palestinian march on October 7 anniversary

Approximately 200 demonstrators, many affiliated with London universities, marched through central London to support Palestinians on the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks. The Metropolitan Police modified the original route, which was intended to span several university campuses, and mandated that the march conclude by 2:00 PM.

During the procession, protesters encountered pro-Israel counter-demonstrators, leading to moments of tension that required police intervention. Pro-Israel participants criticized the timing of the march, describing the choice of October 7 as a “deliberate attack and a deliberate insult” to the Jewish people killed during the original attacks. Pro-Palestinian supporters expressed their stance by highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis and military actions in Gaza.
