London Liverpool Street signaling fault disrupts Essex train services

Passengers traveling between Essex and London Liverpool Street are experiencing delays, cancellations, and service alterations following a signaling fault at the major London station. While all lines at London Liverpool Street have since reopened, disruption is expected to persist until approximately 9 p.m. on Friday, August 28.

Greater Anglia services may face cancellations or delays of up to 35 minutes as the operator works to return to a normal timetable. Affected routes include services connecting London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria, Braintree, Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich, Norwich, Hertford East, Stansted Airport, and Cambridge North.

Greater Anglia stated, “Owing to an earlier fault with the signalling at Liverpool Street, train services are still subject to delays, alterations and cancellations.” Passengers with advance tickets whose services were cancelled are permitted to use earlier or later trains. Travelers delayed by 15 minutes or more may be eligible for Delay Repay compensation.
