London luxury apartments linked to Mojtaba Khamenei put up for auction

Two luxury apartments in London’s Kensington district, reportedly linked to Mojtaba Khamenei, have been put up for auction. The properties, located on Palace Green, were purchased through intermediaries in 2014 and 2016.

The sale follows the inability of Ali Ansari, a businessman described as being connected to the Khamenei family, to meet mortgage payments. Ansari is currently under UK sanctions and has been designated by the US Treasury as a ‘key financier’ for the Iranian leadership.

One apartment, purchased in 2016 for £19 million, is listed for public sale at a significantly reduced value of approximately £12 million. The second property, bought in 2014 for £16.75 million, does not yet have a public listing price. Any remaining proceeds from the sale are expected to be frozen by the British government due to Ansari’s sanctioned status.
