London markets hold steady as FTSE stocks hit 52‑week highs

Market analysts noted that major equity indices remained resilient in late May. The FTSE 100 hovered around the middle of its recent range, with technical support near 10,347 and a bullish trigger at a close above 10,500. The German DAX showed a breakout but awaited follow‑through, while the US Dow stayed above the 50,000 level, indicating continued strength. By contrast, cryptocurrencies slipped, with Bitcoin falling below its 200‑day moving average and the 74,000‑dollar support line.

Within the UK market, two FTSE constituents reached 52‑week highs. Bloomsbury Publishing saw shares rise nearly 40 % in 2026, driven by strong book sales, AI licensing revenue, and anticipation of a new Harry Potter TV series. Computacenter, a technology services firm, surged over 50 % on robust corporate IT spending and a solid order backlog, positioning it as a beneficiary of ongoing digital transformation.

Analysts highlighted that despite geopolitical tensions and US tariff concerns, the UK equity market offered attractive valuations, with Bloomsbury trading at a forward P/E of 14 and Computacenter at 21. Investor optimism appears linked to continued earnings growth and sector‑specific catalysts such as AI and cloud‑based services.
