The Health Bill currently moving through the House of Commons proposes to replace the requirement for local authority‑nominated members on London NHS Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) with members nominated by the Mayor of London. London has five ICBs that manage the local NHS budget, plan services and commission care.

Labour MPs on the Health and Social Care Committee, including Ben Coleman (Chelsea and Fulham) and Danny Beales, argue the change would strip councils of representation, undermine the integration of health and social care, and give the Greater London Authority control over health functions it does not currently hold. They call the reform a one‑size‑fits‑all approach that has not been fully thought through and urge ministers to reconsider.
