London museums announce 2027 South Asian arts festival
Major London cultural institutions have announced a collaboration to host a South Asian arts festival from June 19 to 27, 2027. The event will be organized by the Great Exhibition Road Festival, led by Imperial College London, in partnership with the Indian non-profit Serendipity Arts.
Taking place across the South Kensington Culture Quarter, the multidisciplinary festival will utilize galleries, concert halls, and outdoor spaces to showcase art, science, music, film, and design. The program aims to connect South Asian artistic practices with the collections and expertise of partner institutions, including the Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Geographical Society, Royal College of Music, Royal College of Art, and the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851.
An all-women curatorial team will lead the programming, featuring Veeranganakumari Solanki, Nancy Adajania, Latika Gupta, Preethi Athreya, Sneha Khanwalkar, and Elizabeth Yorke. The festival coincides with increased institutional focus on the region, such as the V&A East Museum’s planned spring 2027 exhibition, ‘South Asia Now: Fashion. Art. Design.’
